About The Author

Lyla Byers2 (67K)

It takes a person with a unique talent to be able to sit down in front of a blank computer screen or a blank piece of paper and within a short period of time compose a story.

Such a person is the author of 'Stories For Kids'

Her name is Lyla V. Byers.

Lyla was born in Victoria Harbour, ON. She lived there with her parents and four sisters until the age of eight when the family moved to a larger town east of Victoria Harbour.

Because of some family problems, at the age of only thirteen, Lyla had to go to work on a tobacco farm where she stayed for the next 30 years. She later moved to Alberta where she worked at many different jobs, enjoying every one.

Writing came naturally for Lyla and she started composing poetry and short stories during her spare time. She always wanted to see her writing efforts in a published format so others could read and enjoy her work.

Lyla is now retired and living in Penhold, AB where new friends, gardening and writing children's stories and poetry occupy her time.

To date Lyla has published a total of 9 volumes of 'Stories For Kids' together with a short novel titled 'Draon's Lair'. In addition she has written numerous poetry which will also be added to this website and are available in framed prints.

Currently Lyla is working on her second short novel titled 'Murder at Blue Lake' and hopes to have it ready for sale in mid October 2012.

She is also working on Volume ten of 'Stories For Kids' which will contain three Christmas related stories.

All of Lyla's books are published in coil bound format with laminated covers and large print for us older readers.
